Applying Tables to Busy Backgrounds in Outlook Express

Learning To Add A Table To Your E-mail Using Outlook Express

Guess what?!

All you have to do is go to Message/New Message/Stationery/Create New ......... the Stationery Wizard will pop up and lead you through the steps to help you make you own basic stationery (with background of your choice) and allow you to browse for your background image, it makes it easy! :o)

Once your finished and you pushed Ok click on the Source tab (don't see a Source Tab? Go up top of your New Message window and click on View and tick the selection Source Edit, you must be set to Rich Text/HTML for this option to be active)t) at the bottom of this new mail window and advance to Step #1 below.

The table code doesn't really have anything to do with the background, it literally sits on top of the background, and can be added to any stationery piece you wish following these simple instructions!

(the table code you need is here, right click here and select "Save Target as..." the file is a .txt and needs to be opened in Notepad to view and copy)

Now if you've used your Stationery Wizard to create this new email with your new background you'll see inside the Source of your New Message some html coding similar to this below:
Step #1
Click On Your Source Tab at the bottom of the mail window and locate the location I have marked here in this screenshot, then highlight as you see,
Click the image for a larger view
Locate the tag that I've highlighted above, your going to highlight this as shown and paste your Table Code into this location replacing what you see there now. Then you will see your html looking like the example below:

Click the image for a larger view
I have underlined all the areas of concern for you above, your file path to your background, and the areas you can change to suit your needs as well, including the Opacity of your table (which determines how solid or see-through it is), the width of the table (what percentage of your message window you want covered by the table) and the hex codes (these are the color codes that determine what color your table will be).
Then go to your Preview tab and see how it looks :o) Then you can begin making changes to the code to suit yourself, I recommend changing one thing at a time and checking to see what change was made in the Preview pane to become familiar with what controls what.

It really is easy and you'll enjoy knowing how to do this many times over!

Your next question may be..........."How do I know what color codes are so they can be changed to match my background?"
