You should now see your picture inserted into the postcard message your composing. This is where the customizationClick to view larger image process begins! It's important you know the pixel size of the picture your using so that it fits into the postcard exactly. This is where I find the CoffeeCup Free Viewer to come in very handy since it doesn't require opening another program to find this information. Minimize your Outlook Express window for a moment so you can open the folder where your image is stored. Once you have the folder open, Right Click on the picture and if you've installed the CoffeeCup Free Viewer you will see a thumbnail view of your picture and beneath it the 'actual' pixel size of your image! Cool huh?! While your inside this folder make a mental note of the image size in Kilobytes, it's listed on the left hand side of the folder as a thumbnail preview. Outlook Express automatically adds approximately 30% to the weight of all outgoing email so keep this in mind when choosing the picture you plan to use, keep the image size as low as possible to help keep the email light weight! By example an email containing 30 kb sized picture will arrive at it's destination weighing in at approximately 40 kb in size! Ok now you know what the pixel size of your image is, the first set of numbers shown is the 'width' the second set is the 'height'. All we are concerned with for our postcard is the 'width'.

Open your Outlook Express window up again and click on Source at the bottom of your window, let's do some editing! Look at the code and find the line where your picture <IMG> has been inserted, you'll recognized it by the filepath and picture name. Just in front of this line is where you have to adjust the left side of the postcards width to fit your image as shown here. Add as shown, inserting the width of your image.

Also while your in the Source pane, let's go ahead and make the borders to your postcard visible. (If you wish the borders to remain invisible leave them set to border=0, do not make changes in the next step here.)
I have marked the areas you may want to adjust to specify color of the border, width of the border, spacing around the image & space between the text side and the image side. if selecting colors for use in Outlook Express is new to you, please check out the tutorial I wrote to help you with customizing colors. The other adjustments to your postcard (table), are easiest learned by changing the exisiting numbers, as marked by the arrows in the screenshot, one at a time and previewing them in the Preview pane to see how each adjustment has affected how your border looks.

The possibilities are endless!!
When you're satisfied with the postcard borders and your picture is fitting nicely inside its portion of the postcard we can move on the the text side of your postcard!
