Learning
to Attach Pictures or Files in Outlook Express
You
have learned how to insert your picture
into
the e-mail so it is visible when the
email is opened by the receiver.
On
this page I'll explain how to attach
a file to your outgoing message.
Let's
Get Started!
You
have your New Mail open and ready to
make it ready to send, you know where
the file or files are you want to attach
to your message to send to the receiver
so up top click on the icon labeled
Attach:
then
the window pops up like this:
Just
like before you need to make sure the
Look in: drop box is showing the folder
location of your file, then click on
your file and push Attach.
You
can at this point select more than one
file by holding down the shift key and
choosing another file or repeat the
process again until you have all the
files showing you wish to attach. They
appear like this to show you what you've
selected:
You
can add as many files as you need
to but please keep in mind that
too many will add up to a large
size e-mail and will be slow sending
and receiving. Too big an e-mail
file and it may be rejected by the
mail server so be aware! A safe
attachment total e-mail size is
generally under 1000 KB, or 1 MB.
Some situations require it to be
more, you'll have to experiment
and see what happens on your mail
servers.
To check to see the total e-mail
size your about to send after you
have pushed send you can click on
your outbox and see the total file
size!
Otherwise
that's all there is to it to attach
files to outgoing e-mail! Play it
safe and be sure you run an anti-virus
program at all times to be sure your
not sending anything contaminated
through the e-mail, as well as keeping
your system protected. :o)
