1. Open a New Image
450 X 550 pixels -resolution 200 - 16 million
colors - transparent background. Make sure
your View is set up to show the grid checkerboard
too as this is helpful with alignment.
2.
Add a New Raster layer and name it Bell.
3.
Go up top to Selections / Load from Disk and
select the FD_Snowbell file that you downloaded
and placed in the folder and click OK.
4.
Your selection should now be active on your
canvas. Set your background color to white
and with your Flood Fill Tool flood fill this
selection - do not deselect. Stop now and
save your project :o)
5.
Up top click on Effects / Plug-Ins / Flaming
Pear / Super Blade Pro and select your FD_SnowBells
file and click OK. (If you do not have SB
Pro you can open the Textured Snowbell.psp
image and copy/paste it into your selection.)
6.
While your image is still selected Add a New
Raster layer and name it cutoutbell1, go up
top to Effects / 3D Effects / Cutout and apply
the settings shown below:

7.
Add another New Raster layer name it cutoutbell2
and apply the Cutout settings again, change
your Horizontal settings to -2 | Opacity to
70 | Blur to 30 | Vertical remains at 0. Apply
and Save your work. Yes I know these cutouts
look dark, were going to adjust this later
on.
8.
Open the Snow Scene you saved at the beginning
of this tutorial or one you have chosen to
use (if your using your own image it needs
to be resized to 200 x 144).
9.
With your Selection Tool settings are ellipse
| Feather 10 | Anti Alias is checked. Place
your cursor at 100 x 78 and drag down and
right to 158 x 118 and click Copy, then Paste
it as a New Layer onto your Bell canvas moving
it into position with your Mover Tool , rename
this new layer snowscene. While this layer
is active your going to want to resize it
slightly go to Image / Resize / 90% make sure
All Layers is NOT checked, the go up and Effects
/ Sharpen / Sharpen. On your layer palette
drag this new layer under your 2 cutout layers.
(Or as an alternative apply a dingbat of your
choice, I used a gold metallic gradient on
mine and added a drop shadow of V1 | H1 Opacity
100 | Blur 1.2 on the gold ones I did.)

10.
Let's do a layer check here and see how your
doing:

11.Add
a New Raster Layer naming it dropshadowbell,
load your selection from disk again then click
Selections / Invert and apply these settings:

Deselect
your image and don't worry, here is why we
have 2 cutout layers and the drop shadow layer......
I had you make various shadowed layers because
from this one image you will have the ability
to make both the snow bell and a clear
glass bell! Depending on which bell you decide
to make will determine which shadows you want
to use. I have played with these 3 shadows
in various combinations, hiding one and using
2 etc. and the results are wonderful! These
shadows will give you a good start in creating
your own collectable bells! I'll walk you
through both kinds *s* as we move along through
this tutorial.
12.
Now that Layer 1 you have on your palette
ought to be empty, let's activate it and flood
fill it with black so you can see what your
doing on the next few steps.
13.
Group these layers together so they are easier
to keep up with when it comes time to move
them.
