Alrighty
then, we have our image and the lace is all merged on it's own
layer,
rename it Lace and Sharpen.
Here's where you can begin doing your own thing........ if you
have the Variations plug in you may want to use it to lighten
the lace layer some. I did on mine, then I duplicated the Lace
Layer........ when you duplicate the lace layer you'll see it
really brightens it up alot :o) then merge the 2 lace layers
together by hiding all but those 2 layers and selecting merge
all visible. From here you need to decide if you want to keep
the single border of lace or do a double border or even triple,
I opted for a double border on mine. To do this simply duplicate
your lace layer then using your deformation tool once again
slide your sides inward some until you like the look and push
Apply.

Move
your heart layer to the top so you'll have a better idea of
the finished look.
From here decide what color to make my heart (you can leave
yours gold if you wish) I almost made mine blue *g* but since
this one is for Valentines I used the
Colors / Colorize to turn my heart red. Settings at Hue 255
/ Saturation 255
And I used the same settings on my bottom layer of lace to colorize
the lace.
Next
add some drop shadow to each lace layer individually

On
the Heart I made for display at the end of this tutorial I actually
colorized the bottom layer of lace before I added drop shadow
and used black for the shadow color instead of red it came out
a very nice effect as well!
So
now you should have something going along these lines:

Now
the rest is entirely up to you! I provided you with a white
bow to use if you wish and the text and font you may want to
add is your choice as well. I sometimes find it hard to stick
to a tutorial when it comes to colors and decorations so I'm
leaving this area up to your imagination :o)
When
you have finished decorating your Valentine, you may want to
add a shadow box look to it like mine. To do this first hide
the backdrop layer so that only the layers of the Valentine
it's self are visible. Then Merged All Visible. Next floodfill
your backdrop layer white and merged all flattened. Then using
your selection tool begin placed at 50 X 60 on Rectangle setting,
drag it down and to the right to the settings of 410 X 390 and
Add a New Layer. Apply the Cutout effect with the same settings
as above only change the shadow to black and both the Horizontal
/ Vertical to 7 and click OK. Then while it's still selected
Add another New Layer and repeat the Cutout changing your Horizontal
/ Vertical to -7 and click OK.
Merge
All Flatten and your finished!!! :o)
Congratulations,
you now know how to make a ruffle and apply it to a curved line!!
I'm
sure your head must be spinning with thoughts of all the different
places you can apply this technique, I know mine did when I
realized this could be done lol
I
do hope you have enjoyed this tutorial!
Please
