If you have recently installed the XP_ServicePack2 you will want to make some settings changes so that you will be allowed to use and view your Outlook Express stationery as you have become acustom to doing. Some very brave women have been close in testing and finding solutions for all the changes made in this service pack and have compiled an e-book tutorial for us to share. This is very helpful in getting yourself all set up! You can download it here.... please note all settings changes are made at your own risk. I can attest that the tutorial information worked for me and was truly helpful. Thanks so much Ladies!!
If
you are running Internet Explorer 5.5
or higher you may very likely be missing
an important file that will enable your
system to display the MetaCreation Direct
Animation Transform displays found on
my site and others across the net.
Go to Start and run Find to search for
DXTMETA2.DLL this file must be
present in your C:\Windows\System folder
(SYSTEM32 folder Windows 2000 or XP users),
during the upgrade often times this file
has been lost, so if you don't see it
after running Find, you can download it
here and follow these simple instructions:
Download Dxtmeta2.zip
102k ,download it to a temporary place
or a place you save files that you may
need to reinstall again, and unzip it
to the C:\WINDOWS\System folder (SYSTEM32
folder for Windows 2000 or XP), then go
to Start/Run and type in:
regsvr32.exe dxtmeta2.dll
Click
ok and you'll get a message saying "dxmeta2.dll
was succeeded", click ok and your
ready to view Meta Creations DA displays
again! :o)
This
file is zipped for faster downloading,
you need a zip utility to open it, if
you don't have one I recommend Winzip.
You
can download a trial version of Winzip
here. Once installed then proceed
with the above instructions for the Dxtmeta2
file.
Upgraded
to IE 6 and can't see stationery like
you used too?
By
default IE 6 sets your security levels
way too high. You need to change them
to view stationery.
In Internet Explorer, click on Tools,
Internet Options, click on the Security
tab, click Custom Level. In the Settings
box, scroll down to The Active Scripting
entry, just under the Scripting heading.
Change
Active Scripting to Enable. Then click
OK, then Yes to confirm, then OK to
exit from the options window.
In
Outlook Express 6, click on Tools, Options,
click on the Security tab,
then under Virus Protection "Select
the Internet Explorer security zone
to use", select Internet Zone. Click
Ok to exit.
All
users a note: be sure you have your computer
enabled to view Active X programs.
(Keep in mind you need to be sure your
running a reliable and up to date Anti-Virus
software)
Also if you find the text appears small
on your screen using Internet Explorer,
simply go to View up top on your tool
bar and select Text Size and make the
appropriate selection, mine seems to be
set on Medium as default.
IMPORTANT:
If you are using "Hotbar", it interferes
with the stationery and you will get alot
of "red X's" instead of images. My best
advice to you is to Uninstall Hotbar!
Hope
this helps!! :o)
This
is useful information, you'll enjoy the
benefits of keeping your system up to
date!! :o) |
